Aziz Sancar wins the Nobel Prize in Chemistry

The Turkish-American biochemist at the University of North Carolina shares the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for mapping how cells repair damaged DNA.

A UNC professor since 1982, Sancar spoke that December about being 'proud of being a Muslim', pushing back on the anti-Muslim rhetoric of the moment from a Nobel podium's height.
