The Mother Mosque
The Mother Mosque of America opens in Cedar Rapids, Iowa: the oldest surviving purpose-built mosque in North America, now on the National Register of Historic Places.
Restored by community members in 1991–92 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996; still an active place of worship and community education.
